What is MOOV, and how does it differ from Uber and Lyft?

MOOV is a Twin Cities-based rideshare initiative, created as a response to the threats from Uber and Lyft to exit the region over the Minneapolis minimum pay ordinances. Unlike its competitors, MOOV focuses on fair compensation for drivers and affordable rates for riders, prioritizing social equity over excessive profits.  MOOV pays drivers either 80% of the ride fare or the state required minimum per mile and per minute rate (whichever is the higher driver pay of the two based on ride class).  We pay this amount up front to the driver, same day; unlike our competitors who underpay drivers below the legally required minimum and rely on their hard earned surge income to true them up to the minimum.  This is a disgusting tactic that not only fails drivers what they're owed within the same day, it also takes what would have been excess surge bonuses and uses that to true them up to the legally required minimum earning.
